Exhibition: Deschutes Gallery, Rogue Valley Manor, Medford, OR Oct.2-31 2024
I'm honored to announce a private exhibition of my watercolor and acrylic paintings at the Deschutes Gallery of Rogue Valley Manor in October for residents. It will include a mix of current and older work.
Recent work reflects my move from being a land-locked midwesterner to a west coast dweller with a whole ocean just hours away. I'm drawn to the moods of sea. The constant change of tides and weather make it a place of beauty and high drama.
Move from the mid U.S. to the Wild West
Now I'm living and working in Southern Oregon. I'm finding new groups of artists, enjoying paintings with the Urban Sketchers, and experimenting with composition and new materials.
Visit the Coswolds with Me!
I spent a week in the Cotswolds in mid-May of 2021, did some Plein air painting there, and took many photos. Back in my home studio later I had fun paintings from my photos.

Home Commission
I recently finished this commission for a client for whom I've done four previous home paintings as their family has moved from place to place over the years.
This time it is the home of her mother who recently had to sell. The daughter's gift was a way to keep that memory alive. A place where her children had grown up and many important events had taken place.
Two Paintings Heading to Health Clinics in Minnesota
This painting called Mother Earth 2 is hanging in a patient room in the new East Lake Clinic in Minneapolis as of January 2022. An earlier version of Mother Earth now is decorating a patient room in a Brainerd health clinic.
I'm so grateful that these images will help create an atmosphere of healing in these essential places.

The theme of the show is Living in Harmony. If you'd like to see the exhibit please call the church office at (651) 426-2369 to see about open hours.

A Piece Selected for NE Arts District Website Banner
Winter Connections 1, or at least a piece of it, was selected to be on the banner for the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District website as part of a rotating banner beginning in December 2020. It's a valuable site for art events and news. I'm happy to have my art contribute.

Demo for Central Minnesota Watercolorists
At the May 8th meeting of the Central Minnesota Watercolorist I was invited to do a demonstration on painting the figure. I showed the group ways to incorporate a simple figure into a landscape or cityscape. Then I demonstrated my own process of creating a figurative painting.
Historic Homes of Hudson
In the lobby of Phipps Center for the Arts is an exhibit of some of the beautiful historic homes of Hudson, Wisconsin from June 15-July 29, 2018. A group of six other artists and I, who regularly paint and critique each other's work each Thursday morning in an art studio there, challenged ourselves to paint one of the historic houses in three different seasons in 2017. I chose 719 Fifth Street. This is my fall painting of that home.
